ABOUT

POLYJAMORY

… is a biweekly blog on global musical traditions that are, in the author’s opinion, overlooked. These articles arise from a longstanding personal and academic interest in music, cultures, and ethnic groups. I hope these short pieces of writing offer a window into the rich and diverse world of musical traditions that surround us.

A quick word about the author:

I am an MPhil in African Studies student at the University of Cambridge with a specific research interest on the role of musical resistance in the South African struggle against apartheid between 1960 and 1980. I hold a BA in Theology & Religion from Durham University, where my research explored how North West African funerary music impacted the birth and rise of Rastafarian reggae music in Jamaica during the 1930s and beyond. I always want to learn about new music, so please get in touch for recommendations.

Let’s get POLYJAMOROUS.
